Looking for a good self-care challenge? Try this one!
I’m such a self-care junkie. One of my favorite things to do when I get home from work is to decide what I will do for the rest of the day that will help me relax and unwind.
Self-care is essential for our happiness and mental well being. Often times we take our mental health for granted, however, I believe that mental health is right up there with our physical health.
I’ve seen a few of these self-care challenges on Pinterest and decided to make one of my own since self-care is something that I am super passionate about.
If you would like to do the self-care challenge with me, there is a printable at the bottom of this post that you can use to track your progress. Feel free to change some things around or do them out of order!
Day 1- Start drinking more water.
If you’re drinking 1L of water daily already, try bumping it up to 2L!
Day 2- Make a playlist of all your feel-good tunes.
Nothing beats a good Spotify playlist that you can jam out to, and it’s an even bigger bonus when they’re all songs that make you feel great.
Day 3- Write a few things you are grateful for.
…and keep it somewhere you can see daily to remind you that hey, your life is pretty awesome. Here are 33 gratitude journal prompts you can start with.
Day 4- Eat a hearty salad.
Vegetables don’t have to be boring! Find a kickass dressing you enjoy and go to town with the greens!
Day 5- Cook something you really love to eat out.
Pinterest is full of copy-cat restaurant recipes , so why not try recreate something delicious at home?
Day 6- Run a warm bath.
Warm baths are the best. The end.
Day 7- Read a couple of chapters from your favorite book.
Reading can be very therapeutic, so if you have a book you really enjoy, take some time during the day to read a little. Check out some of my favorite motivational books here!
Day 8- Go on a walk.
Exercise is a proven way to release happy hormones. If you’re not into going to the gym, take a brisk walk in a nice part of town instead.
Day 9- Get a massage/mani-pedi/ facial.
Who doesn’t love a good pampering? I personally love facials, and I have started to just do them at home to save time and money.
Day 10- Go on a date with yourself.
This can be as simple as going to a coffee shop for an hour or going to a bookstore to find a new good book!
Day 11- Bake something just for yourself.
Some cookies, a mug cake, banana bread or whatever your heart desires.
Day 12- Watch something motivational
There are so many motivational talks on Youtube, and my favorite ones are TED talks.
Day 13- Watch the sunset.
There is something so calming about watching the sunset. Today, go out and enjoy it.
Day 14- Do some yoga.
Yoga has amazing benefits. If you’re a beginner, Yoga With Adrienne is great.
Day 15- Meditate for 10 minutes.
Meditation is something I thought was silly before I started learning about it. When I meditate, I use guided meditation on YouTube, but you can also download an app like Head Space.
Day 16- Listen to a podcast.
I love podcasts! My favorite podcasts are ones that are motivating and inspirational, usually by other women. Here are 15 motivational podcasts you can choose from.
Day 17- Treat yourself!
Do whatever you feel like today. Massage? Shopping spree? A nice, long nap? The world is your oyster!
Day 18- Call up a good friend.
Especially that friend who makes you cry from laughter.
Day 19- Curl up with a blanket and watch a romcom.
Who doesn’t like a lazy afternoon with a romcom? Some of my favorites are The Proposal, Pretty Woman, Miss Congeniality, The Devil Wears Prada, and Confessions Of A Shopaholic. Here are some more feel-good movies you will love.
Day 20- Make a bucket list.
Write down all the things you want to experience in your lifetime, from places to visit, to more simple experiences.
Day 21- Get creative and make something.
There are so many things you could make! Paint a picture, decorate a mug, try out a crazy cookie recipe.. the list goes on and on.
Day 22- Have a no social media day.
I guarantee you will feel so much better after taking a break from social media. If you can’t last the whole day, give yourself a few hours off instead.
Day 23- Go to bed early.
Because what’s better than an early night?
Day 24- Make a DIY spa at home.
You can have the best time by making all the potions needed for an at-home spa day.
Day 25- Write down your future goals.
From bigger goals, to smaller goals you’d like to achieve, and don’t leave anything out.
Day 26- Declutter your space.
A nice, clean home is so much more relaxing than a cluttered one. Pick a room in your house to declutter and go to town. Here are 30 ways to get organized.
Day 27- Buy yourself some flowers.
Just because there aren’t many things in life better than fresh flower.
Day 28- Clean out your wardrobe.
Donate what you don’t use, and make space for future pieces.
Day 29- Get a checkup at the doctor’s.
Nobody likes going to the doctor, but make it a point to have a full check-up every once in a while. It won’t hurt.
Day 30- Get a plant.
Plants bring a lot of life into the home. If you don’t have a green thumb, try getting something kill-proof, like a cute cactus.

Love these ideas for self-care. I’m trying really hard to drink more water and I have a new “hydrate before you caffeinate” rule for the morning, plus I’m in love with the unsweetened flavoured sparkling water from Tesco (La Croix style but only 50p for a litre bottle) which helps when I’m feeling a bit bored of tap water. My favourite is vanilla and cherry but I picked up the cucumber and mint that I’m planning to sip from a champagne glass wearing a fluffy dressing gown to get that spa feeling π

That water sounds delicious! I don’t have a problem downing liters of water every day, but that sounds like a great way to drink water for someone who just wants some more variety. Thanks for sharing!

Aww this is such a lovely idea! It can be a daunting thing sometimes trying to figure out what you need to do – and what your body and mind need you to do. These are some awesome ideas – you’re right, nothing beats a bath!

I agree! I made sure to add in there that everyone is free to do things out of order so that if you’re not feeling something, you can do something else instead. π Thank you for reading!

You have such a sweet blog here. If self neglect had a face that would be me. However I loved your ideas, hydration is the only thing I am doing fine with. I haven’t listened to music in months and it’s been a month I called a friend. I do enjoy warm baths but sadly I don’t think parents of toddlers get any. Thanks for compiling the list. It made me readjust my focus. I will surely start incorporating some of these if not all.
Cheers!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Parents really are deserving of self-care all day every day, but I know that that’s easier said than done. I hope you can add some of these into your routine. π Thank you for reading.
