Monthly Income Report:
Find out what kind of money you can make blogging
Today, by popular demand on Twitter, I am sharing my monthly blog income report for the month of March!
This is a completely new kind of post for me, so I’ll see what I can make of it, but I am excited to be sharing with you all my earnings for the past month.
Now before I break this down, I am going to present you with a humongous disclaimer:
I do not make thousands of dollars through my blog. Yet.
Ideally, I’d want to be making a cool 5 figures a month from it, but that isn’t the case yet.
I am, however, super happy with what I am making, because this is passive income for me.
The blog is a side-hustle of mine for now, and soon enough I’m hoping that it will grow into my full-time job!
Okay, enough rambling for now. You’re all here to see some numbers, so let’s get to it. I’ll also be sharing screenshots of some of the bigger earnings because I want to be as transparent as can be!

Display Advertising
I made $384.71 from ads on my blog in March. The ad network I use is Mediavine, and once you reach 25K sessions a month, you can apply for their ad program.
I highly recommend not starting off with Google AdSense and just waiting until you can apply for Mediavine. For one, it doesn’t crowd your site as much as AdSense does, and AdSense doesn’t pay much at all unless you have VERY high page views.
To put this number in perspective for you, these are my stats for last month.
As you can see, I owe the vast majority of my blog sessions and views due to Pinterest. I’m determined to get that number to the hundreds of thousands this year, so fingers crossed!
If you’re looking for more help with Pinterest, I have a free guide with 40+ quick tips on how to optimize your profile and pins.
Affiliate Marketing:
Amazon Associates- $144.28
I make money through Amazon by linking products to my posts. This is one affiliate marketing program I recommend to all bloggers because you can link products no matter what your niche is!
Skystra- $75
Skystra is the blogging platform I use. I made $75 from just one referral, which is an amazing payout for just ONE SALE.
PS. If you’re looking to change hosting platforms, I really am enjoying Skystra. I transferred to their servers after another host broke my site, and they were able to fix everything and keep me a happy customer!
Tailwind- $15
Tailwind is my Pinterest scheduling tool. The payout I got was from one referral, and the $15 will go towards my next payment.
If you’d like to check out Tailwind, this link will get you free $15 Tailwind credit when you upgrade to the Plus plan!
Digital sales:
My digital sales come from the sale of my Pinterest e-guide, and this month I had 5 orders. I also run a sale on Twitter, so some of these orders were priced lower than they usually would be.
As you can see below, 36 orders were started but only 5 were completed. I need to figure out why that is and try and get that completed number higher.
And there you have it! My monthly income report for the month of March.
The grand total is $684.39.
What I am planning to try this month:
I want to play around with showing a bit more ads on my posts. Mediavine sent out a statement which stated that the payouts this month will be lower due to the current situation around the world.
Definitely not the greatest message to receive, but I’m curious to see if increasing the ads will help keep my earnings relatively high. Or, at least, keep my earnings from taking a deep plunge.
My pinning strategy this month will also change. My plan is to create pins, for the most part, only for my posts with the most affiliate links.
I also want to promote my ebook more on Pinterest, as well as posts that contain opt-in forms that lead to a paid product.
Conclusion
So yeah, that’s been my income report for March and my plans for April!
Obviously, with what’s going on these days, it’s hard to say if this month will be a better or worse month in terms of earnings.
If you enjoyed this post, please share the pin below, and do let me know in the comments!
Also if you have any suggestions as to what I can work on, I’m all ears!
I’m definitely up for writing more of these posts if it’s something that interests many of you. 😊

I’ve always been a bit on the fence about income reports. But it’s a great way to show the different streams of income for bloggers as it can vary so much from blogger to blogger. My main aim right now is to apply for mediavine – as you probably guessed with all my Pinterest questions! An extra $300 a month, like you, from Mediavine would be amazing for my blogging income and get me to a really healthy amount. So whilst I have all the time in the world during lockdown, I’ll be working on those views! xxx
Mariam says
You’ll get there Jenny! I know how frustrating Pinterest can be but you’ll love it when multiple of your pins start going off at the same time!
Gabby says
Thank you for sharing, girl! I always like reading these posts because they give me hope – that I’ll also be able to create an income from blogging. I think you’re off to an AMAZING start. I also just made my first $75 through Skystra for a referral.
I hope you accomplish all of your goals in April!
Much love always,
GABBY
