I don’t know about you, but I think there is something so satisfying about making your own spa kit and then spending a couple of hours on a chill weekend just to indulge in all your homemade goodies.
So, today I have for you a head to toe DIY spa guide that is bound to leave you smelling great, feeling great, and as a bonus, it will not leave a huge dent in your pocket, because most of these items can be found in your cabinets or pantry, and anything you don’t own can easily be bought at the grocery store for very cheap!
No spa day can be complete without nourishing spa water. The beauty of this is that you can infuse your water with whatever you like. A classic is mint and cucumbers, but you can also go the more fruity route with lemon infused water, or berry infused water.
Steam your face
This is a great budget friendly hack. Boil some water, pour it into a heat-safe bowl, and lower your face towards the steam. It also helps if you put a towel over your head because that will trap the steam in. Steam opens up your pores and helps loosen any buildup of dirt for a deeper cleanse. Opening up your pores also softens blackheads, making them easier to remove.
For dry skin, make a mask out of 2 tsp honey and 1 tsp coconut oil. For skin that needs a deep clean, mix together 1 tsp baking soda and 2 tsp coconut oil. To clear up acne, mix 1 tsp cinnamon with 2 tsp honey.
Depending on your hair type, there are a ton of recipes for great nourishing hair masks. One of my favorites is mixing coconut oil and honey. Leave it on for an hour and your hair will be softer, nourished from within, and more easily manageable. You can also make an egg and honey mask, which will also soften your locks and give your hair a natural shine.
For this concoction, you will need sugar and coconut/olive oil. Mix equal parts sugar and oil until they are incorporated, and slather that all over, using circular motions to rub it in.
Mix 1/2 cup of sea salt, 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, 1 cup of baking soda and 10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Pour 1/4 of a cup of this mixture into a bowl of very warm water and let your feet soak for about 10 minutes. What this will do is soften your feet, prevent fungus (that’s what we used peppermint oil for), and will help in getting rid of any dry areas. After soaking, grab a pumice stone and scrub at the dry areas. All the dry skin should easily come off.
