1- Prep for the next day
Being in a rush in the mornings is no fun, especially when it happens more often than not. A quick fix for this morning predicament is to prepare the night before.
What exactly does this mean? Well, you can get your outfit, shoes and accessories ready. That’s usually what takes people the most time. If that’s all ready for you, you won’t have to waste time in the morning looking for an outfit to wear.
Another thing that is handy to have on ready at night is your bag and lunch. Both of these don’t take long to get ready, and will free up lots of time in the morning. You know, to make room for more sleep.

2- Limit screen time
Sleep experts say that limiting your screen time before bed can have a huge impact on how your sleep will go.
Plugging off half an hour to an hour before bedtime will not only free you from unnecessary scrolling on social media, but will also make you more relaxed and ready for bed.
If you’re someone who loves scrolling on your phone before bed, consider putting it on airplane mode to stop the notifications from coming in. Those can wait til the morning when you’re all refreshed.
3- Take a probiotic
Gut health is extremely important to our wellbeing, and taking a probiotic daily helps with keeping your stomach issues at bay. Some experts also say that probiotics help keep your heart healthy, and help reduce some allergies and eczema.
Taking a probiotic at night is actually beneficial because you most likely don’t eat right before you go to sleep. An empty stomach is ideal for probiotics as that helps the good bacteria get to your gut quickly. They’re also safe and recommended to take daily, so definitely work probiotics into your routine.

4- Clean your space
Waking up to a messy room or apartment is not cute. Not only does physical clutter equal mental clutter, but how nice is it to wake up to a clean space?
You don’t have to bust out your vacuum and mop every night, either. Going around your apartment for just as little as 15 minutes before bed and putting things where they belong is going to make a big difference in how your space looks and feels.
You can also wipe down a few most-used surfaces in that time, and do small chores like loading up your dishwasher or throwing the trash. Whatever you do, taking those few minutes before bed to clean is going to benefit your mood and overall productivity the next morning.
5- Give your skin some TLC
A good shower and skincare session before bed is the perfect way to get rid of all of the day’s grime and bacteria. Whether you wear makeup or not, washing your face before bed and applying some skincare has huge benefits on how your skin will look, feel, and ultimately age.
A skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated at all. A gentle face wash like this Cetaphil one and a good night moisturizer will suffice.
If you’re interested in a more in-depth routine to fit your need, it’s best to see a dermatologist who can give you pointers on what it is your skin needs the most.
6- Create a cozy bedroom experience
Winding down and relaxing in a cozy space is going to make going to bed a wonderful experience. Whether you’re a minimalist or a more bougie person, there are small things you can do to your bedroom that will create a relaxing oasis for you.
Here are a few suggestions:
- Lighting a cozy candle
- Turning on a lamp
- Investing in cozy bedding
- Using lavender spray on your bedding
- Using silk pillowcases
- Playing relaxing music
8- Read for 30 minutes (or just a chapter!)
Reading for a lot of people is an escape and almost like therapy. I know that many of us are very busy with day-to-day life, and reading might be the last thing on our minds. However, reading has more benefits than just being a form of entertainment.
In addition to lowering stress and improving your mood, reading at night can actually help you fall asleep quicker and sleep better.

7- Write down 3 good things about your day
Expressing gratitude towards the good things in your life is the key to a healthy mindset. A good practice to add to your bedtime routine is writing down 3 good things that happened to you that day.
They can be as small as you making the perfect coffee, to someone complimenting you, to bigger things like you buying your dream car.
Having an attitude of gratitude before bed is also great for manifesting more into your life, and if you’d like to read more about manifesting your dream life be sure to read this post next.
