IPL Laser Hair Removal:
The Solution To Easy At-Home Hair Removal

In today’s post, I am sharing my experience with using an at-home IPL laser hair removal handset.

If you’re familiar with laser hair removal, you probably know that the sessions at a laser clinic can get pricey and can also be painful depending on the area you’re getting lasered.

I’ve gone that route and didn’t enjoy the pain, so when I found out about at-home IPL laser hair removal handsets, I was very curious to try them.

I’ve seen these used a bunch of times online and thought they looked really good, and they seemed to work similarly to the hair-removal laser you’d get at a clinic.

Upon doing some research online, I came across Crystal Skin Co which had promising before and after photos, so I decided to try it out myself.

My handset arrived relatively quickly and I began my first session right away.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind before starting IPL laser hair removal:

    • You need to shave the area before using the handset. I usually shave right before using it.
    • Don’t have any lotion or self-tan on the area you’re going to be using the handset on. The skin has to be clean and free of any creams.

    How to use it:

The handset is activated when it gets in contact with your skin. You place it on the area you want treated, press the button, and it will light up. Then you move all around the area in the same motion until you’ve used it on the entirety of the area.

The Crystal Skin Co IPL handset has 5 different levels. Level 1 is the lowest level and level 5 is the highest.

I tested out all the levels and felt comfortable starting out with level 3 on my legs. None of the levels really hurt- even level 5 doesn’t, it just feels like getting a bit of heat on your skin.

So pain-wise I would say that the Crystal Skin Co handset is very gentle compared to salon laser hair removal. I barely felt anything, and like I said, it just felt like slight heat on my skin rather than pain.

You’re supposed to use the IPL hair removal handset once a week on clean and shaved skin. The recommended number of sessions with the handset is 12 sessions with one session a week, and I stuck to it for 12 weeks.

    The Experience

My experience with the IPL laser hair removal handset has honestly been very positive.

I have not gotten any irritations throughout using it for the past few months, and I was not in any pain during the sessions.

I have used it on my legs and have since then moved to my underarms and the experience has been painless as well, with a slight heating sensation once I moved to levels 4 and 5.

It has been super easy to use and I love that I can do it from the comfort of my own home rather than having to drive somewhere to get laser done.

You can save time and save money using one of these at home, and I’m all up for saving both.

    The Results

Since starting with the IPL hair removal treatments a few months ago, I have seen very drastic changes to my hair growth.

I can go a couple of weeks without shaving my legs at all now, and it has made most of the hair on my legs completely disappear.

This is huge for me, because I usually had to shave every other day if not every day to prevent stubble. Now my hair is super thin, so even when it grows out it’s not noticeable and I can get away without shaving for weeks.

There are a few spots I still shave once in a while, but the hair is very thin and there isn’t a lot of it left. This means that shaving my legs now is a lot faster than it used to be.

Also just for reference, I have light brown hair on my legs. Crystal Skin Co recommend using their handset on any colored hair except on very light or grey hair. It is also suitable for all skin tones, apart from very dark. You can check out their FAQ page here for any questions you might have about its usage and if it’s a suitable match for you.

I highly recommend this product and I will continue using it as long as I need to, which doesn’t seem like a lot longer. I touch up every few weeks now that I’ve completed the 12 initial sessions only because I want to keep the hair thin and almost gone.

If you’ve been interested in IPL at-home laser hair removal, try out the Crystal Skin Co handset and tell me what you think!

I’ve been wanting to try one of these out so it’s nice to hear they work. I’m very light skinned with dark hairs on my legs so it’s very noticeable if I don’t shave every day, so even just lighting them would be a nice difference 😊 thanks for sharing
