How to treat yourself on a budget:
Free ways to treat yourself
Ok, so I don’t know you, but I can probably guess that since you’re reading this, you like to treat yourself once in a while.
And that’s perfectly fine.
In fact, I encourage random acts of kindness to ourselves, because if we don’t take care of ourselves, how are we going to take care of anyone or anything else?
The problem
I like to get my nails done, go to fancy lunches and dinners, buy books, go to the movies, and of course, go shopping.
The only issue here is that I am nowhere near being able to afford these little luxuries every few days. Savings are a thing, bills are a thing, and I’m not a millionaire. Yet. Still working on that one.
Having to entertain myself for the past few months without going over my budget hasn’t been easy, but I’ve compiled a list of things I like to do that are basically free!
I now have more money saved on things that I need to save for, and I’m getting the same satisfaction from them as if I were paying for my lunches and
So without further ado, here are the things I like to get up to when I want to treat myself, and what you can try doing yourself.

Take a walk
Walking is one of the best things we can do for ourselves, physically and mentally. Find a place you like, and just walk aimlessly for at least half an hour.
You will be more energized, and you will be giving your body some exercise.
Take a bath
One of my favorite things to do which I don’t do enough of! What’s more relaxing than a bubble bath and some soft music playing?
Create a sexy ambiance with some candles, grab a glass of something delicious, and just soak for a few minutes.
Baths are super relaxing and can really recharge your batteries.
Netflix with popcorn
Netflix is one of these things that I can spend hours on! If you’re looking for awesome Netflix recommendations, check out my post on 20 Netflix shows worth watching!
Cook/bake something new
The internet is full of food ideas. Whether you have specific taste buds or are open to trying anything and everything, look inside your fridge and google what you can cook with what you have in there.
You might surprise yourself and find a new favorite dish!
Read a book
I’m sure you have books lying around the house which you have not read yet. If you don’t, re-read one of your favorites.

Write
Journalling, blogging, writing poems or songs, or even just writing whatever you’re feeling or how your day went is super relaxing. Something about putting your thoughts on paper makes me feel so good about myself, even if I’m just writing random thoughts.

Paint your own nails
I absolutely love going to the nail salon. Tohe nly problem is, all these monthly trips get super expensive. I’ve been doing my own pedicures for the past couple of months and I’ve saved about $65.
It’s relaxing, and even though it doesn’t look as on point as when I get them done professionally, I get better each time I do it.
Burn your favorite candle
Or diffuse a relaxing essential oil. Scents, especially natural ones, have many beneficial properties that are helpful when you’re feeling angry, anxious or run down.
Listen to a podcast
This has been a recent favorite of mine. I love listening to inspirational and motivational people, and podcasts make it super easy because you can listen to them anywhere!

DIY spa day
I’ve been getting really into spending less time at the salon, and more time at home and using a DIY spa kit. I use coconut oil or a mask made out of an egg and honey on my hair, exfoliate using a sugar olive oil scrub, shave, moisturize, and give myself a home mani and
