How to wake up pretty: Beauty sleep tips that work!

Be honest, how many times have you woken up looking like a hot mess from the night before? I’m talking hair all tangled up, face puffy and your eyes still black from the mascara you forgot to wash off last night.

I’ve done it plenty of times, and it happens to most of us from time to time. There’s nothing wrong with waking up like a hot mess express, but if you’d like to work on waking up less of a mess, this post will help.

There are always things you can do to ensure that you don’t have to spend that much of an effort getting ready in the mornings.

    It starts with the day before…

    Doing a bit of prep the day before can help you wake up refreshed, glowy and oh-so-pretty.

    Here are my favorite overnight beauty tips you can try! And remember that you don’t have to do all of them, or do them all at once. Pick an choose whatever you’d like to work on.

    1- Protect your ‘do

    You can protect your hairstyle and avoid the dreaded bedhead by putting it in a protective hairstyle while you sleep, and swapping your cotton pillowcase for silk.

    2- Take off your makeup

    As much as you might be tired at night, try not to skip this step! Taking off your makeup at night is such a good habit to form. Your skin will thank you.

    3- Night showers

    A shower at night is essential. Think about it. You’ve spent the whole day doing things, working, walking around, sweating etc. Get rid of all that grime and sweat before you hop into bed.

    4- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

    Want soft, glowy skin? You need to moisturize, sis, especially after a shower when your skin is still a little damp. This helps you get extra hydration and your skin will feel amazing the next morning.

    5- Have a skincare routine

    You don’t need to put on 10 different products. All you need is a serum for your skin type, an eye cream, and a moisturizer.

    6- Vaseline with socks

    Trust me, this is a godsend for your feet. Apply a good amount of petroleum jelly on your feet, slip on some socks, and in the morning your feet will be silky smooth.

    7- Cuticle oil

    Dry cuticles can be combated with a simple cuticle oil application. Apply some right before you go to bed along with your moisturizer for hydrated cuticles.

    8- Teeth whitening

    This is not to be done every night, but once in a while, you can use teeth whitening strips for a pearly white smile.

    9- Drink water

    You should be drinking water all day long, but a small glass of water before bed can help you stay hydrated and it also has lots of health benefits which you can definitely benefit from.

    10- Limit your sodium intake

    Getting too much sodium in your diet might make your body retain extra fluid, which could result in a puffy face, feet, and ankles. Try to limit your sodium intake throughout the day to help combat this.

    11- Moisturize your lips

    Chapped and dry lips are easy to combat with regular exfoliating and applying a lip mask or chapstick to keep your pout moisturized and plump. Applying a little lip moisturizer before bed will transform your lips, especially in the colder months.

    12- Get enough sleep

    This wouldn’t be a post on how to wake up pretty without mentioning getting enough shut-eye. We all know sleep is important for us, but many of us struggle to get enough sleep. A structured night routine can help you combat this and get enough beauty sleep.
