How To Look Classy

Today I thought I would write about 10 easy ways in which we can look classy and timeless. In today’s day and age, I feel like being classy is considered old-fashioned and unnecessary. I, on the other hand, disagree.

There are SO many trends out there these days that come and go, but being classy is never going to go out of style. It’s appropriate for all occasions and all times and always makes a good impression.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that trends are bad, or that the people who follow them don’t know what they’re doing. On the contrary, to each their own. But there is something to be said about women who like to choose to be classy over trendy, and who still like to be considered timeless.

So without further ado, let’s get into my 10 tips for how to always look classy and timeless.

Pin for later!

How to always look put-together and timeless

Good posture

Having good posture takes your look and demeanor to a whole new level. Besides it being physically healthier for you than slouching, good posture also shows confidence. And what better trait to possess than confidence?

Plus, even if you are still working on being the confident woman you should be, standing up straight gives the illusion that you are. And well, there’s nothing wrong with faking it until you make it!

Wear a smile

Smiling is a great way to look polished and classy. It lets people know you are approachable and kind, and makes your whole look softer and more feminine.

You also never know whose day you might be making when you smile at them, so smile away! It’s the most effortless thing you can do to show kindness.

If you need a little help with your smile, an easy fix is using teeth whitening strips for a pearly white smile.

Minimal jewelry

Jewelry can make plain clothes look ten times more classy and timeless. Because jewelry can send a different message depending on which pieces you are wearing, for a classier look opt for more timeless pieces.

A minimal silver or gold necklace, some studs, and a ring can elevate your whole look and make you look like you really tried.

Wear steamed clothes

I was born into a household in which clothes got ironed or steamed the minute they came out of the dryer.

While this is a bit extreme and maybe unnecessary, I do think that wearing steamed clothes sends a completely different message than wearing wrinkled clothes. This steamer is a great option!

For a classy look, always wear clean and steamed clothes. If you hate steaming, get you some Downy wrinkle releaser spray (this thing is a godsend!) and you’ll be good to go.

Wear clothes that fit

Wearing clothes that fit is the easiest way to look put together. Often times we try to squeeze into clothes that don’t fit us just for the heck of it. It just doesn’t look good and doesn’t do our bodies any favors.

It’s okay if you’ve gained a few pounds over the holidays or maybe even lost a little weight. Get you a couple of basics and wear those, and you will look so much more put together and classy than wearing ill-fitting clothes.

Know your body type

Similar to the above, knowing our body type can make a huge difference in how clothes look on us. Clothes are meant to flatter your body and not the other way around. Find out what body type you are by clicking on the image below, and then start wearing clothes that are flattering to look timeless and put together at all times.

Plus, if you know you have an area of your body that you absolutely love and looks great, accentuate it!

What body type are you?

Smell good

Wearing a soft and classy scent is one of my favorite things to do when I want to feel feminine and pretty. Smelling good is also a great way to boost confidence and add to your classy look.

Whether you prefer nice smelling body washes, sprays or perfumes, finding a nice and feminine scent is going to make you feel wonderful.

Be well-groomed

If you are looking for a way to class-up your look, keep your hair clean and shiny and styled any way you choose. You don’t have to wash it and style it daily, a few times a week is enough and won’t over-dry your hair. You don’t even need to use any heat on your hair if you don’t want to, however, finding a hairstyle that works with your face shape will be very flattering to your overall appearance.

Personal hygiene also falls under being well-groomed. That means regular showers, moisturized skin, fresh breath, and groomed nails. These small details can make your look much more feminine and classy, and even if that’s not the vibe you are going for, they are still important for your overall appearance.

Neutral makeup

Makeup that will always be in style no matter what crazy trends emerge is neutral makeup. Experimenting with colors is a fun way to add some spice to your look, but for a more classy and timeless look neutrals are best.

If you wear makeup, neutral colors accentuate feminine features the best and provide a soft and beautiful look to the face without being too overpowering.

Wear neutrals

Neutral colors in clothing are always going to appear classy and timeless. Similar to makeup, loud colors are more trendy rather than classy, and won’t stand the test of time because of how quickly trends come and go.

The best colors for a classy and timeless wardrobe are blacks and greys, whites and creams, reds, nudes, blushes, beiges and navy. Another upside to having these colors in your wardrobe is that matching them is a breeze because they, for the most part, all go together!

Spread kindness and positivity where you can

The final thing I want to stress is that no matter how beautiful a person may look on the outside, the inside really does matter. I know how cliche that sounds, but it’s the truth.

Being classy doesn’t only mean outer beauty. Kindness never goes unnoticed and makes us more likable, and also makes us feel good! Being a good person is something we all should strive for and it is the one thing that will never go out of style.

I love this post. It’ll truly make you go from drab to fab in an instant. I love wearing neutrals and I only wear my wedding ring for jewellery, lol. And I’m actually quite sporty but I love, love, love smelling good! Always wearing a smile and having a positive mindset are both great accessories too!

I’m a mum of two little boys so often my look is ‘hot mess’! But when I’m out with my husband or have time without the kids, I definitely like to keep it low key and classy! Dressing well for your body is key!

I have a love-hate relationship with my posture, but it’s something I really need to work on. I totally agree with these, and a nice scent and neutral make-up is my way of making myself feel classier! You’ll never get me steaming my clothes though… We don’t even own an iron πŸ˜‚

Thank you! I also need to work a little bit more on it, as some days I just throw on the first thing I see in my closet!

These are great tips. I especially like that you included steaming your clothes because it drives me crazy to see people with a bunch of wrinkles on their shirt. Steaming your clothes makes such a big difference.

It really does! I honestly can’t get away with not steaming them because I let my clothes air dry, so there are always crazy wrinkles all over them.

This was a really cool post to read, especially nowadays with so many different trends, clothes and styles to opt for. Whilst I love trying out different makeup looks, for me, some neutral eyeshadow and a red lip always looks classy and timeless. I also 100% agree about dressing for your body shape and knowing what’s flattering for it. Also, smiling, yes!!! Smiling can brighten someone’s day

I love me a neutral eye and a classic red lip! I’d totally wear red lips more often if I didn’t have the smallest lips of all time haha.

I agree with the point that adding neutrals and basic clothing piece makes a lot of difference. Infact if I like a basic clothing piece and always buy 2 of them in 2 different sizes. It helps me play with layering.

Replace your capris with light-weight shorts and loose pants! Linen works great for hotter climates. Investing in a couple of sundresses can also help. πŸ™‚
