Getting your life together to create a happier version of you does not have to take months or years to achieve. In today’s post, I’m going to show you how you can create a better version of you in just 31 days.
Personal development is something I think everybody should always be working on. Not only does it make you a well-rounded person, but it also feels amazing. Trust me.
I’ve been taking personal development seriously for the past couple of years, and it’s only made me a happier, healthier and more positive person. If this sounds like something you want to achieve as well, keep on reading.

31 Days To A Happier Version Of You
Day 1: Pick up a new book
Whether you are an avid reader or not, reading is a great way to kick-start your journey to a better version of you. Depending on what you read, it can help reduce stress, help you sleep better, and educate the heck out of you. Check out this post on the best personal development books if you need help with what to pick up on your next trip to Barnes And Noble.
Day 2: Make a feel-good playlist
Super simple, yet super effective. Blasting any happy tunes can work wonders on your happiness, including being a great motivator when you work out, and lowering stress. Get yourself a playlist with your favorite feel-good tunes and blast it any time you need a quick pick me up. Check out this post on my favorite girl boss songs to add to your playlist!
Day 3: Treat your skin to a facial
You can do so much here, no matter what your budget is. Whether you are a babe on a budget or a self-care splurger, treat yourself to a facial treatment of your choice today. Your skin will thank you, and you will feel amazing.
Day 4: Try something new
Use today as an excuse to try out that new thing you have been curious about for the longest time. Whether that’s trying a yoga class, attending the opera or trying out a new cuisine- whatever feels like fun for you. Boredom is a hell of a downer and trying new things will make you a happier and more outgoing version of you.
Day 5: Enjoy the silence
Let’s face it- how many times during the week do we get to enjoy silence? Between most of our jobs and running errands, many of us don’t get to enjoy the silence as much as we should. Take a few minutes today and go to a quiet part of the park and just watch nature in silence. Alternatively, you can practice meditation for a few minutes.
Day 6: Try out a new recipe
Today, treat yourself to that recipe you’ve been saying you’ll make soon. Whether you are craving good old comfort food or something more nutritious, good food never fails to make us happier people. So eat up, buttercup!
Day 7: Donate your old clothes
Donating clothes you don’t wear is a great way of giving back, as well as decluttering. These two things combined will have you feeling accomplished and lighter, and you will have more space in your closet for newer clothes which will make you feel like a million bucks.
Day 8: Get a plant
Plants are the ultimate feel-good addition to your space. With so many to choose from, there really isn’t a wrong way to go about getting a new plant to spruce up your home. Here is a list of plants that are great with low-light settings, and if you don’t exactly have a green thumb, here is a list of the best low-maintenance house plants.
Day 9: Learn a few words in a new language
Languages bring people together, and nowadays it is super easy to teach yourself a few new words. Got a trip coming up? Learn how to say the basic words in that language. You can go very far with locals for knowing how to say “hello”, “thank you”, and “goodbye” in their native tongues! Duolingo is what I recommend, but Google works just as well.
Day 10: Give yourself a compliment
Don’t be embarrassed. Positive self-talk can help you focus on what is good in your life, and it can remind you of all the things that make you, you. Positive self-talk can also help you be in a good mood throughout the day, and who doesn’t need more good mood in their lives?
Day 11: Journal for a few minutes
Journaling is a great way to self-reflect. Taking a few minutes to journal today will give you a great sense of confidence as well as help your mental health. Head on over here for 50 journal prompts for self-growth if you’re not sure where to start with journaling.
Day 12: Veg out on veggies
This one is self-explanatory. Vegetables are good for you. Eat more of them today than you would normally! Check out these veggie-filled recipes below.
Day 13: Stock up on citrus
The same goes for citrus fruits! packed with vitamin C, they are some of the best fruits you can add to your diet. Add some to flavor your water today, or enjoy some cut up for a snack. For more health benefits of citrus fruits, click here.
Day 14: Switch up your fitness routine
Studies have shown that trying new things when it comes to staying active is actually really beneficial for your body. You get to work different muscles than usual, and there’s no worrying about it getting repetitive. Plus, you might just find something you love doing!
Day 15: De-clutter your space
Whether or not you are a fan of Marie Kondo, she does make a good point. More stuff doesn’t necessarily mean more happiness. Is your closet in shambles? Does the inside of your kitchen pantry look like it’s been hit by a tornado? Today, choose an area of your home and declutter it, leaving only what you use regularly.
Day 16: Take a break
You’re halfway through your 31 days. Today you get to take a break, whatever a break looks like to you. Spend time with family. Go for a swim. Read. Watch countless episodes of your favorite show. You get the idea.
Day 17: Listen to motivation
Audiobooks and podcasts have gotten very popular in the past few years, with good reason. Ditch the novels today and listen to a personal development book. Alternatively, you can branch out into the world of podcasts, some of which you can find in this post.
Day 18: Scent up your space
Today’s task is simple, yet effective. Light up your favorite candle and enjoy the aromas. Scents have a way of relaxing the body. For a more natural route, diffuse essential oils in your diffuser instead. Lavender is the king of relaxing smells.
Day 19: Plan a getaway
Visiting new places is an awesome thing to do for yourself. Take the time today to plan where you want to visit next. If you’re more of a staycation gal, look up some hotels near you until you find one you love the looks of.
Day 20: Treat yourself to new clothes
Spruce up your wardrobe today with some killer new pieces you feel great in. If clothes aren’t your thing, opt for accessories, skincare or makeup! Whatever makes you happy.
Day 21: Clean up your phone
Gone are the days of a million unanswered emails chilling in your inbox, saved contacts you forgot all about and irrelevant pictures in your camera roll. Take some time today to declutter your phone and make room for new memories.
Day 22: Go to an animal shelter
If you’re an animal lover, a fun way to spend today would be to visit your local shelter and seeing the animals. Or if you’ve already got a pet, spending time with your furry friend will be just as beneficial to your happiness.
Day 23: Move your body
It’s true what they say about endorphins, they do make us happy. If you’re not a fan of exercise, plan a night out with your girls and go dancing instead!
Day 24: 3 random acts of kindness
Being good to others and putting a smile on their face is what’s on the menu for today. Perform 3 random acts of kindness with no intention of getting anything in return. Visit your elderly neighbor, bake some cookies for a friend, help a stranger reach something high up on the supermarket shelves, or simply smile at someone today.
Day 25: Schedule your doctors’ appointments
We all hate doing it, but it’s gotta be done. Call up your doctors’ today and see what checkups you are due for. This includes the dentist, too! Better safe than sorry, right?
Day 26: Take it down to the mat
Stretching and yoga are great for flexibility and are a good way of staying active. If you’re a beginner, check out Yoga With Adriene here.
Day 27: Write a gratitude list
Practicing gratitude takes little effort and time, and can be done anywhere. Write down some things you are grateful for today, and re-read them whenever you’re feeling down.
Day 28: One thing at a time
There’s a bit of a lie going around on social media. The lie is that you have to be doing a million things at once and “hustle” in order to succeed. That’s not true. Doing things at your pace and doing them correctly will bring you far better results than if you were to cram a bunch of projects into the same time frame. Things can wait.
Day 29: Volunteer your time
Volunteering is something you can do at any time. Depending on what causes you are passionate about, you can probably find something online to volunteer your time to. If not your time, then consider donating something to a cause that resonates with you.
Day 30: Sport feel-good exercise gear
When we look good, we feel good. What better way to walk your behind to the gym than while wearing cute exercise gear that makes you feel fabulous? Ditch the old t-shirt and worn-out sweatpants and invest in some new workout clothes.
Day 31: Plan out the next 31 days
Now that your 31 days to a happier version of you are coming to an end, take today to reflect on what you’ve accomplished. This will help you see what else you want to work on for the next 31 days, and it’s going to help you plan your next month’s journey to an even happier you.

I’m genuinely going to try this challenge, as you always suggest things that make a huge difference to how I feel. I do some of these already (like I read a lot!) but I definitely don’t dedicate enough time to improving my self, and these tips are going to be perfect for that. Thank you!
