Working on your mindset:
How to let go of your fixed mindset and replace it with a growth mindset
It’s no secret that our mindset has a very large role to play in our lives. It controls our thoughts and the way we view our purpose in the world.
Yet, many times throughout our lives, the circumstances around us might cause us to have a negative mindset.
In today’s post, I am going to share ways in which you can get yourself out of a negative and fixed mindset!
Let me get you in on a little secret…
If you learn to master your mindset, your whole life will change! 💫
To be honest, I’d always dealt with a very negative headspace.
It wasn’t until I took up blogging and started really working on personal development that I noticed a shift in my mindset.
I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that changing your mindset takes no time at all. It does.
It also takes intentional work. Hard work.
But let me tell you… working towards being in a positive headspace is one of the most beautiful things you can do for yourself.
Here are 7 mindset hacks that will change the way you look at life!
Evaluate your current mindset
Probably the most important thing you will first need to do is evaluate just what mindset you are in currently.
Are you experiencing feelings of lack? Self-hatred? Pessimism?
Have an honest conversation with yourself and try to pinpoint exactly what it is that you are feeling, and have been feeling, for the past few weeks or months.
Once you have your feelings evaluated, write down why you are feeling this way.
- What is making you feel this way?
- How long have you been feeling this way?
- Which experiences trigger these feelings for you?
Remove limiting self-talk
Negative self-talk is going to be your worst enemy when trying to work on your mindset!
When you think and speak about yourself negatively, you are damaging your own perception of you.
You want to be your best friend. Your cheerleader.
Yes, I know that sounds corny. But if you’re not that for yourself, how do you expect anyone else to be that for you?
A simple hack that you can do to remove limiting self-talk is to take up journaling!
Journaling is going to help you SO much with self- love. Here are 50 journal prompts for self-love to get you started!
Thoughts become actions
It’s no secret that what you think, you will do.
Therefore, if you think positive thoughts, you WILL do positive things.
Changing your mindset largely relies on your thoughts, and training your mind to think differently.
Once you start working to remove limiting self-talk, you can move on to the next step.
Repeat affirmations
So now that you’ve started working on your thoughts, your words come next!
Again, positive words lead to positive actions. It’s as simple as that.
Affirmations are what’s going to help you with that.
Here are 50 positive affirmations you can try out. Choose 3-4 of them to repeat every morning.
Choose ones that resonate with you. Repeat them to yourself until you start to believe them.
The goal here is not to mindlessly repeat what’s written in front of you. It’s for you to rewire your way of thinking and speaking!
Express gratitude
Expressing gratitude is going to be your next step in changing your mindset to a positive one.
Here are some easy ways to incorporate gratitude in your life:
- Every day, write a few things you are grateful for in your life. I do that in my morning routine, which I have written about here.
- Write thank-you notes to others.
- Before you go to sleep, write down three good things that have happened to you that day.
- When something goes wrong, think about what this event might teach you, instead of how it can harm you.
- Tell your friends and family why you appreciate them.
- Look for things about yourself that you love, and list them somewhere you can easily reference later.
Once you allow gratitude to take over you, your whole life will change. ✨
Keep positivity around you
This step is my favorite because you can tailor it exactly to what you want it to be!
Love inspirational books? Have those on hand.
Prefer beautiful quotes hanging on your walls? Hang some up!
Feel more energized around positive people? Plan more meetups with them!
Whatever will get your mind to stay in a positive state is good!
Spend more time on self-love
At the core of everything else, has to be our love for ourselves.
What good is everything else if we don’t take the time to care for the one person we are stuck with for life?
Think about what makes you happy. Then, go ahead and do it.
For some of us that might mean a killer workout.
For others, a bath with a glass of wine in hand.
For me? A nice hot shower, followed by a lengthy skincare routine.
Do more of what you love. And do it intentionally without rushing!

All great tips! For sure agree with negative self-talk. You really don’t realize how often you put yourself down.
If you’ve watched Cheer on Netflix I started saying give myself the positive mat-talk Jerry gives his teammates 😁

I didn’t but I’ve been wanting to! I think I’ll start watching it tonight since I have so much more free time now. 🙂
