Invest In Yourself

Investing in yourself can have amazing results on the quality of your life. It helps encourage personal growth, your well-being, and mental health.

Investing in yourself does not have to cost a lot of money, depending on what you do. There are plenty of free things you can take part in that won’t cost you a dime, however, there also are good ways to invest in yourself that do require actual money to be invested.

I believe that we should always make ourselves a priority. Whether you are a busy mom, a college student, or someone working 9-5, we all deserve to make time for ourselves whenever possible.

The best investment you can make is in yourself.

Warren Buffett

Today I will be sharing 7 ways in which you can invest in yourself, in order to live a comfortable and fulfilling life.

SET GOALS

Setting goals is the ultimate way to invest in yourself. Think of setting goals as something to work towards. Want to buy a new car? Got a course you want to take but are struggling to find the time? How about saving money?

Everybody has something they want to achieve in life. By setting goals, we are more motivated to reach them than if they just stay in the back of our minds.

Think of a goal you’d like to achieve, write it down, break it down to the steps you need to take in order to reach it, and stay consistent. Don’t forget to celebrate the small milestones to keep you going!

    HEALTH

Investing in our health is one of the best things we can do. After all, health is wealth. You can’t expect to have a good quality of life if you do not take care of your body and mind.

Move your body, eat right, take your vitamins, and learn ways to work on your mental health.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, so do not neglect it. If you feel overwhelmed or not okay, it is absolutely okay to speak to someone about it.

    TRAVEL

Travel opens your mind and eyes to things you would never experience if you stayed in one place all your life. Whenever possible, do take the plunge and go somewhere you haven’t been before.

Experiencing new cultures, religions and places is amazing for broadening our minds. There are so many beautiful things to experience in this world, and it really does enrich our lives in many ways.

If possible, try to go somewhere new once a year at least. Keep an open mind, talk to locals, eat their foods, and listen to their stories.

    RELATIONSHIPS

Investing in good people is invaluable. Surrounding ourselves with people who add value to our lives is an easy way to invest in ourselves.

We do not have all the answers to everything, and that’s okay. We as humans are able to learn from each other about anything in this world- whether it is a different language, a cool skill, or just how to be a decent human being.

If you are surrounded by people who only like to go drinking and having fun, that’s fine and all, but what are you learning from them that would improve your life? Think about it.

“If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.”

    Confucius

    LEARNING

One of my favorite ways to invest in myself is to keep on learning. I am a life-long learner, and I believe everybody should keep learning even in their older years.

We live in an age where anything we want is at the tips of our fingers. Books, podcasts, videos, seminars, workshops, even an intelligent conversation with someone is considered learning from each other.

It is never too late to learn a new skill, so try to dedicate some time during the week to broaden your knowledge.

    MULTIPLE MONEY STREAMS

If you are a millennial, you have probably heard of a side hustle. Making extra money is always good, and I think everybody will agree with me.

If you are thinking of picking up something extra to do to bring in more money every month, I wrote a whole blog post about 10 things you can do to make extra money here.

Don’t wait to start making multiple money streams for yourself. Start now, so that you can have more money sooner than later.

    MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

Last but not least, you need to recharge once in a while.

Working hard and busting your ass is great, but do take the time for a little self-care once in a while. Not only will this avoid burnout, but it will also keep your mind sharp and ready to crush those goals we talked about earlier.

Absolutely! We are going to live with ourselves for the rest of our lives. It’s vital to invest in ourselves. Also, is this a wrong URL for your website? It keeps showing up as “Not found”.

What a fab post! I particularly agree with goal-setting, health and continuous learning – but I certainly don’t disagree with anything, these are just the ones that feel most relevant to me right now. I actually think you could look at this whole list as a form of self care – they might not all be warm and fuzzy and easy, but planning for the future and enriching your mind and experiences is so important to getting a good quality of life. Loved it <3

Thank you so much! Yes, it does all link to self-care now that I think about it!

Making time for yourself would be the most important for me. I make it a rule to always have time in a day to read a bit and just do something I love for at least an hour. We really shouldn’t lose ourselves
