Do you need a life makeover, and fast? In today’s post, we are going to look at some habits you can start that can change your life forever.
We are always changing and evolving, and the changes we make play a significant role in how the rest of our lives go. Some changes have to be tried to see if they work for you, and other changes can be the best decisions you’d ever taken.
The truth is, many of us are scared of taking the first step towards a better future. You know how the saying goes…
Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.
Fear robs us of happiness, fulfillment, success, and a brighter future. However, once you take that first step, it will get easier to take the next one.
This post is going to outline a few steps you can take in order to start making that change in your life that you’d always wanted.
And remember, whatever you want for your life can be achieved, but you need to start actively working on getting it.
If you want a better body, you must start eating healthy. If you want to get a promotion, you must start to show that you are deserving of that promotion.
Whatever your goal is, you can get to it.

Set your goals
Getting clear on what your goals actually are is the first step. To change your life, you first need to pinpoint what it is that you want to work on in the next 6 months.
Grab a notebook, and write down 3 goals you want to achieve. And use your discretion here. Obviously, multiplying your income by 5 times is probably not going to happen in the next 6 months.
Once you have your goals set, you can then come up with a game plan to start tackling them.
Think of small, but effective, habits you can incorporate daily.
For example, if one of your goals is to lost 20 pounds, a habit you might incorporate is going on a daily walk.
Get clear on your “why”
If you don’t get clear on why you want to change your life, you won’t be motivated and disciplined enough to stick to your goals.
Why have you decided to make the change? Is it because you want to leave a legacy for your family? Are you sick and tired of feeling sluggish? Is it because you’ve had enough?
Whatever your “why” is, it is going to help you stay on top of these habits that will get you to your goals.
Let’s face it, you can’t be motivated all the time. It’s very normal to have days when you feel like you want to stop. However, when you get those days, you should think about why you’re doing it.
Nothing will motivate you than the light at the end of the tunnel.
Educate yourself
Most of us might know what we want from life, but we might not know how to get there.
Lucky for us, the internet is filled with articles, courses, blogs and so much more on just about any topic you’d want to learn about. Sometimes, it’s as simple as typing “How do I lose 20 pounds?” in Google.
You need to know how to get to a better version of yourself, and what better way than to learn from others who have done it already?
Invest some time into learning. Read books, listen to podcasts, read articles and blogs. These blueprints and testimonials will be invaluable to you on your journey.

Invest in your health
We can’t expect to finish the race if our engine is faulty. Health is the first step towards hitting your goals. If you’re not healthy, how will you ever have the energy to put in the work?
There are many areas of health you can start bettering. It’s your body, so you probably know what you need to work on. If not, check with your physician.
The next 6 months can lead to a lifetime of healthy habits if you put in the work now.
Here are some basic health requirements that will help keep you strong, your energy levels high, and your mood elevated:
- Drink enough water every single day. Water is a non-negotiable, you need it. If you don’t drink it regularly now, get a large water bottle and fill it up every day with some lemon slices and mint. Not liking the taste of water is not an excuse not to consume it.
- Get enough sleep. Your brain needs it, and your body needs it. Figure out a night routine that relaxes you and start doing it every day to signal your body that it’s time to sleep.
- Eat more nutritious foods. Whole foods are filled with nutrients that you’re probably lacking, so learn how to cook a few meals that only require whole foods. Meals like stir frys, oatmeal, baked veggies and meats, soups and salads are easy to learn and will provide you with energy to get through your transformation.
You also don’t need to start all of these at once if you’re someone who tends to get too overwhelmed. Baby steps are just as effective, if not more.

Surround yourself with like-minded people
Who you keep in your circle can have a huge impact on your progress. If you have people around you who are always dulling your shine, how do you expect to keep shining?
With that said, the people who will benefit you the most on this journey are those who already have what you’re aiming for.
Expand your circle to include more people who you can look up to. Go to meetups, join chatrooms, and introduce yourself to people you’d normally be too afraid of talking to.
The knowledge you can gain from them is going to be invaluable, and you will learn so much about how to get to your goals.

Be consistent
Consistency is the key to success and will take you closer and closer to how you can change your life. You can’t get real results without consistently doing what needs to be done.
The longer you go at it, the easier it will become to keep at it. These habits will become a part of your routine, and the routine is going to lead you to the finish line.
Avoid burnout
Burnout is real, and it’s good to avoid it as much as possible. Not only does it feel very discouraging, but you can become so tired that you don’t even want to think about sticking to your habits.
That is why taking the time to recharge your batteries is going to help you stay on track. Make sure you get enough sleep, have your alone time, and make time for self-care.
Hustling will get you the results, but it’s equally as important to take the time to properly rest.

Track your progress
Sometimes we can’t really see how far we’ve progressed because we’re so focused on the end goal and what that looks like.
Using a notebook or journal to track your progress, be it weekly or monthly, is going to show you how far you’ve come if you can’t see it on your own.
Designate a recurring day to jot down your progress and when you feel like you don’t see a difference, reference those small wins.
Celebrate your wins
Speaking of wins, the big win at the end of the tunnel is not the only win worthy of being celebrated. There are so many micro-milestones along the way, and those should be acknowledged and celebrated as well.
This will keep you motivated and will give you a slight insight into how you’re going to feel when you’ve reached those big goals.
Conclusion
I hope you have enjoyed this post on how to change your life in 6 months. These tips can be life-changing when implemented into your routine and worked on consistently.
As mentioned before, some goals might take a longer time to get to than others, so if you need to, set aside some more time for those goals.
The same habits should apply to both long-term and short-term goals, so feel free to use them for any goals you have in mind.
