It seems like wherever we turn these days, we are bombarded by methods, pills, potions, and procedures to reverse the clock when it comes to our appearance. In this post, we are going to be looking at some natural and healthy ways to age gracefully.

The aging process is, of course, inevitable and some women practice habits that help them age feeling and looking fabulous. Some of these ways, we will discuss below.

Aging is not only determined by how many wrinkles and creases you have but also by how you feel inside and out. Here are some tips on how you can age beautifully all while feeling amazing in your skin!

Disclaimer: Aging is completely natural, normal, and to be expected as the years go by. This article is by no means telling you that aging is bad and should be prevented or reversed. The sole purpose of this article is to help those who want to age gracefully and try to maintain a healthy aging process.

9 Simple Ways To Age Gracefully

    Limit stress

As much as you can, try to limit unnecessary stress. Yes, some stress in your life is inevitable and normal, but try to not get stressed about things you can’t control- like someone cutting you off in traffic.

Extra stress can over time contribute to serious health problems, and it’s bad news for your aging process as well. High levels of cortisol which are caused by stress break down your skin’s collagen and elastin, causing sagging and wrinkles.

Try to relieve stress by doing more things you enjoy, meditating and recharging your batteries regularly, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

    Get plenty of sleep

Sleep, rest, downtime. Whatever you want to call it, is crucial to your health and keeping you healthy and looking your best.

Have you ever seen someone one day and just knew they did not manage to get enough sleep that night? That’s because lack of rest really does play a part in how you feel and look.

So the next time you think you should stay up binging a new show on Netflix instead of going to bed when you know you’re supposed to, think of how fresh you will look the next morning if you go to sleep instead.

    Eat nutritious foods

Did you know that eating highly processed foods can speed up the aging process? That’s because a lot of these foods cause inflammation in the body, and that hastens the aging of your cells.

That being said, keeping a healthy diet filled with whole foods is going to help you feel amazing, as well as look youthful for longer.

    Always wear sunscreen

If you only follow one tip on this list, have it be this. Wear sunscreen every single day, rain or shine.

Sunscreen is going to be your best friend in preventing premature aging because it blocks the sun’s rays that are known to cause wrinkles.

If you’re wondering when to start applying sunscreen as part of your routine, the sooner the better. I personally started incorporating it into my skincare at 18 years old.

Here are some good sunscreens for most skin types and skin tones!

    Get regular exercise

Exercise is another non-negotiable when it comes to aging gracefully. People who have made exercise a part of their routine usually have more energy, are vibrant, happier, and live longer!

Did you know that a Harvard Alumni Study showed that each hour of exercise can gain you about two hours of life expectancy?

Incorporating exercise into your routine can be as simple as a brisk walk that takes you 30 minutes out of your day, so don’t think that you have to be in the gym for hours for it to have a positive effect on your health and aging process.

Do more things that make you happy

    Audrey Hepburn once said:

    Happy girls are the prettiest.

I, for one, think that she was absolutely correct. Being happy and having good energy around you can definitely make you look your best at any age.

Is there a scientific explanation for why happy people look good? It probably has to do with the fact that happy people usually know how to manage stress, which can take a toll on your looks.

Of course, it’s impossible to be happy all the time, but doing more things that bring you joy can really help you age gracefully.

    Cut down your sugar intake

Sugar is a major cause of inflammation in many people’s bodies, and inflammation can bring a whole set of problems you don’t need.

Opt for natural sugars and try to limit your processed sugar intake to just a few times a week. Not only will you look graceful at every age, you will also feel years younger than you are. Good sugars = natural, good energy. Bad sugars = sugar crashes and premature aging.

Some healthier options you can choose when you have a sugar craving are all kinds of fruits, dark chocolate, yogurt, and peanut butter energy bites.

    Do not smoke

Smoking, if possible, should be avoided at all costs if you want to age gracefully. According to a twin study that was done, smoking reduces oxygen to the skin, resulting in premature and deep wrinkles.

If you’re a smoker and think that it won’t make a difference if you stopped, it absolutely will. Your skin cells will repair themselves overtime.

So if you’ve been thinking about stopping smoking and couldn’t find the motivation, why not think of stopping as a way to become healthier and look better all in one?

Embrace the changes in your body

Aging is inevitable, and it can be a beautiful process that many women have been conditioned to fear. The fact of the matter is that you will age, and its up to you how to look at aging.

You can either worry about it, or you can simply enjoy the fact that you’ve been given the opportunity to live another year. An opportunity that many people will not get to experience.

There are quick fixes to aging like Botos and fillers, but if you want to age naturally and gracefully, you definitely can. Look at beautiful women such as Meryl Streep or Viola Davis. They have always been beautiful at every age, and you can too.

The key is to have a healthy relationship with yourself, keep healthy habits, and live life with grace.
